Seaside San Jose May Festival
We are happy to announce our Annual May Festival will be held on Saturday, May 19th from 3-6pm at the San Jose Campus.
(Our friends at Beach will hold their May Festival on Saturday, May 4th from 11am-2pm on their campus.)
Our May Festival will be an afternoon of family fun,- including Maypole performances, craft booths, puppet show, live music, storytelling, rock walk and more. Parents and family members will be able to view their children’s artwork as well as visit the Book Fair. All students in all grades and their families are invited to join us.
What is May Day and the Maypole?
May Day is traditionally celebrated in the northern hemisphere as a return of warm weather and new growth. The May Pole symbolizes the tree of life and the growth of spring vegetation. The May Pole Dance is a very joyful experience, where children from most grade levels take turns doing the dance. As the children mature, the patterns of the dance get more complicated.
Throughout history, cultures have celebrated the seasons and patterns of nature. The purpose of celebrating the seasons helps to bring the school together as a community and by honoring the passage of the seasons through art, music, and story, our connection to nature and to one another is strengthened.
